Ten races with a total of 131 runners fill the programme at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday 11 June. The track will have some give in it after last week’s heavy rains so look out for horses with wet going form to improve.
While she has not encountered a soft track, MON PETIT CHERIE is a strong chance in Race 3. The Rafeef juvenile filly ran well on debut, to Symphony In White, who went close to winning the Gr 1 Allan Robertson. MON PETIT CHERIE clicked through splits of 44.1 and 22.7 seconds when making late progress in her eye-catching 1000m early May debut and will relish the extra 200m. Brett Crawford’s youngsters tend to step up sharply on their first try so Gareth Wright’s mount is now poised to open her account.
Her form is miles better than MARITZBURG MEMORY and DUCHESS OF PALOMA, so there will only be potential market springers to fear. On pedigree, OCTOBER FEST and WINTERONTHEGREEN are bred to scuttle so should be closely monitored in the prelims and betting before plunging on MON PETIT CHERIE.
Tuesday’s exotic sequences are difficult, and short selecting somewhere enables punters to load up in other legs without busting P4 and P6 budgets.
KELP FOREST and SLURRICANE could be the two to fight out Race 6, a Class 4 over 1400m. The latter is a course and distance specialist with highly consistent, competitive figures at this grade, while KELP FOREST won fluently in a lower class three weeks ago, races well under these conditions, and should be able to handle the slight bump up in the league.
BOOGIEFIED, TOUCHDOWN, NIGHT BOMBER and STEINBECK can be used as back-ups.
SEEKING PEACE is a mud-loving mare and with Mike Stewart booking his go-to jock Richard Fourie, the intent is clear in Race 9, a Class 5 over 1200m. Admittedly she is a bit of a swing (just 3 wins from 47 starts) but she might well pop up if she gets her favoured soft ground.
She can be combined in spec bets with TRES CHIC (another that does not do much winning – just one score from 13 starts) yet her form is not terrible despite some troubled recent trips. Plus, she has been given a chance by the handicapper off a reduced OMR of 70.
ON BOARD, WHY NOT JACKIE and ROYAL LYTHAM are alternate contenders in a trappy heat.
