Duality 2 is part of a larger body of work titled Obscure Clarity, a photographic book that explores the fluidity of gender identity and expression. Drawing from my personal experiences and observations of my partners, these works employ double exposures to create a unique overlap of two scenes, reflecting the common misunderstanding of gender expression in transgender individuals.
Stylistically inspired by the graphite works of Chris Becker, these pieces were created using analogue photography and darkroom printing techniques. The process of working with medium format film, developing it, and producing silver gelatin prints in my darkroom contributed to a meditative practice, allowing me to reflect on the intimacy I share with those close to me and my perspective as a transgender artist.
