Mpho Jacobs is a painter and digital artist from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, who began her artistic journey in 2017 and expanded into digital art in 2021. Currently a Visual Communication Design student at Stellenbosch University, her creations fuse realism with symbolic motifs, reflecting her emotional experiences and knowledge of art history. Mpho is passionate about amplifying underrepresented subjects, particularly black individuals and women.
Her achievements include being runner-up at the Art in the Park exhibition in May 2019 and first place at the UACES Dimes Exhibition in March 2023. Notable speaking engagements include a talk at Stellenbosch University Museum’s Visual Literacy series in September 2022 and participating in the Conversations on Creativity: Leveraging Technology as a Creative panel in October 2023.
Mpho has exhibited globally, showcasing her work in various digital and physical galleries from South Africa to Paris and New York. She was featured in prestigious exhibitions such as After Paradise x Usurpa’s Womxn Month exhibition in Johannesburg in August 2023 and Spier Light Art in March 2024.
