Kim Bednall, born in 1991 and raised in Cape Town, developed a strong passion for design early on. She initially pursued studies in Interior Design before moving to London to further specialise in Set Design at RARA.
The vibrant energy of South Africa eventually drew her back home. For Kim, set design has become a technical craft, but it is through painting and installation art that she has found a peaceful space to freely explore creativity.
Her work reflects what brought her home—the love she has for this place. The ocean holds a unique power to provide both solace and connection, offering a space for personal reflection and community gathering. Its calming rhythm and the communities that meet along its shores are what Kim missed most during her time abroad, and what ultimately called her back.
